Germinating your cannabis seeds

Note: Germinating process as demonstrated here may only be performed in countries where germination of cannabis seeds is allowed.

Why your cannabis seeds may fail to germinate?
You ever wonder why those seeds don’t germinate?
Here are some things that might stop your marijuana seeds from germinating in soil!

Too Wet:
Cannabis seeds need to be damp, not wet for germination. Excess water covering the seeds prevents oxygen getting to the seed. Poorly drained soils may also cause soil fungus diseases. Aerate your soil with perlite if it seems to be too wet.

Too Dry:
A certain amount of water is essential for germination, so maintaining a constant soil moisture during the germination period is vital, cover containers with glass or glad wrap to prevent you soil drying out. Marijuana seeds die if dried during germination.

Too Hot:
High temperatures result in excessive soil desiccation and injury to the cannabis seeds and seedlings. Never allow more than 28 C degrees / 90 F degrees while germinating the marijuana seeds.

Too Cold:
Cold temperatures can kill seedlings and prevent germination. Cool temperatures can result in slow, un-even germination, and attack by soil diseases. You want to start the cannabis seeds indoors, before outplanting. Never plant directly outdoors unless you are prepared to loose the seeds, never plant when there is a hazard of frost.

Planting Too Deep:
This will result in delayed emergence. The cannabis seeds may not be able to grow long enough to reach the surface on the limited food storage within the seed. Plant your seed 1/2 and inch to an inch down, or better, first germinate them using presoaking and than plant in soil.

Soil Too Firm:
Making your soil mix too firm can prevent oxygen getting to your marijuana seeds also drainage is also affected.

Soil Too:
LooseSoil which is too loose results in too much air surrounding the seed, which results in not enough moisture, therefore marijuana seeds that do not absorb enough moisture will most likely dry out.

Soil fungus:
Seeds may root or seedlings fall over. Overwatering, poor drainage and lack of aeration will increase the likelihood of this occurring. Plant cannabis seeds in sterilized potting mix, and make sure you containers are clean.

Non Viable seeds:
If your cannabis seeds have not been stored correctly they can deteriorate. Or if you got them from an unknown source they may be dead. Avoid and light colored or small white marijuana seeds as they are not mature.

Use dark brown seeds with distinct surface pattern.
